About two years ago I officially drank the Kool-Aid and joined the Crossfit craze. It's super hard but equally rewarding...and I love it. I especially enjoy when two of my passions (Crossfit and room renovations) come together, which was the case last month when NaKoa Crossfit (Yuma, AZ) asked me to revamp their pro shop. Challenge accepted!
We started inside the box by adding NK's gym logo to one of the main walls. Using a projector and a little bit of black paint, the logo was complete in no time. Next up? The pro shop.
Now for the pro shop.
The owners had already brought in some sweet brick paneling along with a custom made desk and shelving unit, but they also wanted to incorporate pictures on a feature wall that relayed the community feel/environment NK promotes and prides itself upon.
Really, all this place needed was a few minor updates to tie it all together.
We started with a large (and long) room...
This space definitely needed some color--a wow factor of sorts. Since Nakoa's colors are royal blue and black, I thought a black wall would be perfect. Black is masculine, bold, and anything placed upon it immediately pops/stands out.
As for the rest of the room? Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter did the trick. It's a subtle greige color that basically goes with everything and especially does a great job of picking up the grey grout lines from the brick paneling it butts up against.
Staff pics were a requirement but we needed to figure out the best way to adhere SIXTEEN individually framed pictures in the space surrounding the window. This area is the first thing one sees when walking in, and the frames needed to compliment the custom-built desk unit already in place. Hobby Lobby to the rescue.
These 5x7 frames were a great deal and the cherry color was an exact match to the desk unit. I love when things come together easily!
Black plaques with silver name etchings and matching frames (purchased from local Yuma vendor, BGD) were added underneath coaches and staffers to finish this wall and introduce prospective members and Boot Campers to the NaKoa team.
And what about the feature wall? Canvases! Lots of canvases. 1.5" gallery wrapped wall decor with oversized dimensions. NK provided the pics and with a little editing by AFC to brighten and add a bit of contrast, these pics really pop.
Finally, we added the NK monogram to coordinate with the custom industrial shelving already in place. Team sponsorships have already begun to adorn the wall and will continue in years to come.
NaKoa Crossfit's pro shop is now customized, personalized, and ready to go.
