Kids rooms are always a lot of fun to redecorate. Mostly because kids are funny and their sense of humor definitely permeates into their room theme and decor. Especially in the bathroom...especially in a boys bathroom.

I'm currently at the "O" house working on a number of spaces and just this morning we were able to check the first room off of a list needing renovation.

Here is where we started.

The "O" family has deep Hawaiian roots that they wanted to display and incorporate into their home decor. They also have three young boys who share a small bathroom so the idea was to make it efficient, fresh, bright, easy-to-clean, and fun. I wanted to infuse a lot of color in this space, implement the desired theme without going overboard, and get as much design into this small room without making it appear too busy.

We started with the mood board.

Fun, huh? Here's a breakdown of what took place:

1. Paint/Moldings: We wanted to give the walls a nice, neutral tone so that the bright colored decor would really pop within this space. Sherwin Williams Anew Gray was selected in a satin finish. Next up? Those gorgeous board and batten moldings (thanks, Shane!) painted with SW Snowbound in a semi-gloss finish.

2. Mirror/Lighting: The builder grade mirror and light fixture were removed and replaced with newer, more stylish (and definitely more fun), pieces. Even better? The caged light fixture was found at a great price and then spray painted with a silver hammered finish to created what you see here.

3. Wall Hooks/Letters: In the original mood board, we found some really cool monogram hooks for the boys to hang their towels on. Only problem? The price. $18 per hook was a little steep. Hobby Lobby to the rescue! AFC located these fabulous whale's tails along with tin letters to create these custom beach-inspired hooks...for half off. They totally make the room and I just love how they look up against the bright white moldings and paired with that festive orange clock/citron towels.

4. Wall Decor: Etsy. The wall decor was all about Etsy. In an effort to really bring the Hawaiian islands to this bathroom, we found a number of printable prints through various shops on Etsy. A map of the islands, some cute bathroom wording, and a sweet Hawaiian quote. I love the colors and feel they give the space. And what about the octopus decal? Decorating the toilet is my new favorite thing to do.

5. Shower Curtain: One of the key elements in this room was the shower curtain. Mrs. "O" picked this really cute print that not only works with the theme but will grow with her boys as they age. Loaded with surfboards and beachy quotes, it really is the perfect piece for this renovated bathroom space.

6.) Toilet Paper Holder: Last but definitely not least would be the toilet paper holder. Yes, it's an octopus and yes, it is so. much. fun! It goes great with of its surroundings and is just plain cool.
